What is Buccal fat?
This part called the deep cheek is fat mass inside a bag below the masseter muscle inside the cheek; the proper name is buccal fat pad.
The deep cheek fat is a size of a ping-pong ball, which is connected from the cheek to the temporal region, and gives volume to the cheek to have an effect of looking young. But if the deep cheek is overdeveloped, it gives a grumpy look, and from aging, the deep cheek is drooped downwards to look like a bull dog for a bad overall impression. In other words, appropriate amount of deep cheek gives volume to the face for rejuvenating effect, but it can also be a main cause of cheek drooping.
What is Buccal fat Lifting?
Unlike the deep cheek removal, deep cheek lifting improves the drooping and the volume of the cheek through lifting without removal.
Not like other fat, deep cheek fat is very tough and solid, so when it is removed carelessly, it can result in excessive cheek drooping or sinking.
Therefore, instead of removing the deep cheek fat, it is better to perform relocation ofg buccal fat to its original position.
